Calculation review

Readings first. Check the calculation. Keep the record.

This guide explains the checks to make when reviewing TrimCargo. It is an overview of the workflow, not a numerical worked example or independent validation of the calculation engine.

1. Establish the vessel and survey inputs

Confirm vessel particulars, hydrostatic data and draft-mark positions against the vessel’s approved information. Record observed port and starboard drafts, water density and the relevant ballast, fuel and other deductions for each survey stage.

Keep observed readings distinct from predicted drafts. Expected drafts describe a proposed cargo change; they are not a substitute for a new set of observations.

2. Review list correction and the cargo figure

The Advanced List Calculator uses the selected side, list direction and vessel waterline settings to help review the opposite-side draft estimates. Check these settings against the vessel’s shape and the draft positions in use.

Review the corrected drafts, hydrostatic inputs, displacement, deductions and the resulting cargo figure through the available calculation and report views. Compare initial and final survey results on a consistent basis.

3. Separate trimming forecasts from observed results

For selected holds, enter cargo manually or use the suggested distribution. The Deflection Engine compares trim-only expected drafts with estimates including modelled hog or sag, including the proposed loading sequence.

Simulation & Warnings identifies predicted breaches of configured limits. Loading Analysis compares the selected survey condition against those limits. Confirm the configured limits and review both margins and breached checks.

Forecasts are advisory.

Compare them with observed drafts as loading progresses. Stability and structural stresses must be checked on the vessel-approved loadicator.

4. Review the report before issue

The PDF report is part of the survey record. Check the vessel and voyage identity, survey stages, units, source data, deductions and cargo reconciliation before exporting and issuing it under your organisation’s review and signing procedures.

Displayed decimal places do not establish measurement accuracy. The reliability of a cargo figure depends on observations, vessel data and the assumptions used in the calculation.

To evaluate the current build, request app access and examine the built-in Test Vessel Demo. For a calculation question, contact support with the platform and app version.

Operational verification

TrimCargo is a professional calculation and decision-support workspace. Outputs depend on the accuracy of observed readings, selected vessel geometry and configured data. Verify results against approved vessel documentation, onboard procedures, the vessel-approved loadicator and applicable requirements.
